Abstract |
This is the first city-wide representative household food security survey of Cape Town and contributes significantly to the growing body of evidence about the food system of the city. The main finding is that the food system does not service all Cape Town residents equally. Households experience significant challenges in accessing food, as demonstrated in the high levels of food insecurity across the city. Perhaps just as significant are the high levels of inequality in food security, a finding consistent with the broader literature on poverty and inequality across the city. |
