The Neil Aggett Labour Studies Unit (NALSU) was established in the Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) at Rhodes University as a partnership between the university and the Department of Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEDEAT) of the Eastern Cape Provincial Government. NALSU was set up as an independent university-based research unit that would build a programme of scholarship in the field of labour studies, and provide policy inputs to DEDEAT where required and based on NALSU research. It has become a hub of labour studies at Rhodes University through the work of a NALSU team consisting of core staff, associates and postgraduate students. NALSU and the Corey Library at Rhodes University were collaborators on the project to rescue and publish the Keiskammahoek Rural Survey data archived in the library.
